Laura's personal coach, Sue Bramble, said:

'Laura’s selection to represent GB at this years Olympics is brilliant news.  I’m delighted that all her hard work, determination and drive has paid off.  Our journey has been epic, working our way through massive lows and equally huge highs!  We’ve worked and grown over the years, not only as coach and athlete but individuals.  I can honestly say I couldn’t be prouder. ‘

Laura says:

"I am so happy to be selected to represent Team GB at the Tokyo Olympic Games. It has been a huge journey and I have so many incredible memories along the way. There are so many people that have been involved in this journey and supported me to this point, I cannot thank you all enough. I’d like to thank Sue for her unrelenting support and commitment. You have been there for me throughout and I will be forever grateful. Thank you to Helen, Di and Carl for your support from the beginning and to the whole club- I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of. Finally, I’d like to thank Tracy, the National squad support team and British Gymnastics for your incredible help and support”.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon

Latest information regarding reopening on Wednesday 2nd December

Sorry for yet another email but PLEASE could you read the information below as it is important that you do so before you return to the Gym, THANK YOU :)

We are pleased to announce that Quayside is in TIER 2 restrictions when we re open next week.

We wanted to reassure ALL our members that we will continue to strive to provide a safe, hygienic and COVID free environment as possible for your children to train in whilst attending the club.

All our cleaning procedures will continue to be adhered to, together with the measures already in place on arrival to and departure from the gym.

We would continue to ask that if you, your child or anyone in your immediate bubble shows any signs of COVID, or receives a positive test result, that you do not attend the gym for at least 2 weeks and you inform us via email or phone immediately.

We have listed below information relevant to our Club's reopening from the Government and British Gymnastics websites:

'What you need to know regarding the local tier restrictions and exemptions'

All businesses and venues that are open are expected to follow COVID-19 secure guidelines to protect customers, visitors and workers.

In all tiers, the following businesses and venues can remain open:

  • certain leisure and sporting facilities such as gyms, sports courts and facilities, leisure centres, fitness and dance studios, golf courses, swimming pools, riding centres, outdoor playgrounds – subject to relevant social contact rules in each tier.

Tier 2: High alert

This is for areas with a higher or rapidly rising level of infections, where some additional restrictions need to be in place.
In tier 2:

  • organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with). There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can take place with larger groups mixing
  • you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible

Tier 3: Very High alert

This is for areas with a very high or very rapidly rising level of infections, where tighter restrictions are in place.
In tier 3:

  • organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes cannot take place indoors. There are exceptions for indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s
  • you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible
  • avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through other areas as part of a longer journey

Exemptions from gatherings limits in all tiers

  • for supervised activities provided for children, including wraparound care (before and after-school childcare), groups and activities for under 18s, and children’s playgroups

We are pleased to confirm that from Wednesday 2nd December, gymnastics clubs in England will be able to reopen following the publication of the government’s Covid-19 Winter Plan.

On 2nd December, national restrictions will be lifted, and England will move back into a regional, local restriction tier system. Details on which areas are in which tiers has been announced and you can check your area via the government’s postcode checker.
Below we have outlined what activity is permitted to take place in each tier.

Tier 2 – High

  • Activity for under 18s and disabled participants can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Activities and disciplines identified within the Team Sport Framework Action Plan can take place for under 18s and disabled participants.
  • Parent and toddler sessions can take place under the Covid-secure guidance outlined in the Step Forward Plan.
  • Adults may continue to train individually (unless part of the same household or support bubble i.e. only one person on a piece of apparatus at any one time or individual warm-ups).
  • Activity under the Team Sport Framework for those aged 18 and over is not permitted (unless part of the same household or support bubble).

We would like to take this opportunity to, once again, thank you all for your continued support

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

The Quayside Team
